Week 3: Home Office Makeover-White Home Office DIY Decor Projects

Time is flying but, but I knew that would happen once I put this out there!  I’m glad I have because each week I say to myself, “Lynn, you were crazy for doing this!”  I also say, “I’m so glad I did so this room can be done!”  This week is all about my white home decor projects and there was a burlap one too!

It’s week 3 of my Home Office Makeover and so far so good!  The accent wall was a bit frustrating trying to make sure everything was straight, but I got it!

If you’re just joining my Home Office Makeover, glad to have you!  You can find what I’ve done the past 2 weeks by using the links below.

Week 1 / Week 2

This makeover is bold and vibrant meets farmhouse.  It took some thinking about how to incorporate all that into one little room!  The farmhouse will come into the decor throughout with small decor touches.  It’s a fine balance because it’s got to be enough so that it makes a statement, but not so much that it looks like I couldn’t make up my mind so I just added some farmhouse decor because I like it so much.!  Make sense?

I made a wood burlap picture board.  I see these all of the time and thought what a great way to incorporate pictures into my office.

This was such a fun project!  I didn’t want to have the unusual picture frames.  I love how it turned out!  This is one of the perks of marrying someone whose last name starts with the same letter as your maiden name.  All the stuff I had with my initials doesn’t have to change!

In week 1, I mentioned that the accent decor will be white.  The first 2 pieces on the agenda are trays and shelving.  I used chalk paint to paint the trays and the shelves. Because there is so much color, I’m using a stark white chalk paint so the white pops in the room.

I wanted a tad bit of a rustic feel so I used a paint brush and rather than making sure every single part of the trays and shelves were a perfect white, I let the paint brush strokes show.  I also didn’t work hard to make the shelves perfectly white so that some of the wood actually shows.

Does your work table look at messy as mine does with all the paint and stain?  But, I guess that’s the whole point of it being called a work table!

I’m still trying to decide if I want to make floating shelves or pipe shelves, but I’ll decide by tomorrow because I only have one more week!

Y’all, how on earth did these 3 weeks go by this fast?!  One more week…Next week is the big reveal!

Lynn, you are a fountain of inspiration! I love all of these fabulous projects you’ve been working on. I need to get myself in gear and start organizing my office space so maybe I can launch into a DIY project like yours. If you lived here in California, I have a feeling we’d be very good friends!

Looks like great ideas, I recently bought a new L shaped desk for my office but it still needs painting badly. I don’t actually use the desk I work in the living room so that is probably why I never got around to painting.

  • I love projects like this! There’s nothing better than organizing or rejuvenating your workspace. It just makes it so much for fun to work in!

  • Grant Williams 09/29/2017, 8:38 AM

Lynn, what type of paint did you use on the shelves? Did you have any problems with it soaking into the wood too much?

You’re very creative! Nice work! πŸ™‚

    • Lynn 09/29/2017, 12:51 PM

Thanks Grant! I used chalk paint for this project and had no issues at all. I’ve also used milk paint before. I was looking for a more rustic look so I didn’t want them to be painted “perfectly.”

      • Grant Williams 10/04/2017, 8:08 AM

Nice, and I appreciate the reply. That makes sense. I’m not familiar with chalk paint so next time I’ll know to try that rather than get some other kind that’s a poor choice and mess up my project.

        Have a good day.

        • Lynn 10/04/2017, 2:14 PM
