Salads are a healthy meal and I love them because you can use whatever ingredients you want to create them! 1 of my most favorite ingredients to add to any salad is avocado. Since avocado doesn’t have much of a taste on its own, it goes well with most ingredients and is so healthy for you!
I’m also a big seafood lover and shrimp is also an ingredient I often have in my salads. I decided to create 2 of my favorites into this 1 salad.
This salad is full of yumminess and color. My Nutritionist always says the more color on your plate, the better and I’m here to tell you, this salad does not disappoint!
I try to have a salad 2-3 times each week. I think this is where most of my fruits and vegetables come from. As much as I love salads, they are time hogs because there is so much cutting involved. This is why meal planning is so important to allow you to prepare. By meal planning, I am able to cut up all vegetables needed for my salads on Sunday. When I’m ready to make them, I just grab the baggies from the refrigerator and put everything together!
I love cooking, but I don’t love spending all night in the kitchen and so I’ve found several ways to cut down on the amount of time I spend in the kitchen each night. I also like to add things you don’t regularly find in a salad such as,
- Beans
- Nuts
- Strawberries
- Apples
- Grapes
- Chia seeds
- Quinoa
You can pretty much put anything you want in a salad, another reason why I love them so!
What are your favorite ingredients to add to your salad?

- Salad greens or spinach
- Avocado
- Shrimp
- Carrots
- Pecans
- Red pepper
- Blue cheese crumbles
- Red apples
- Wash all ingredients. Chop and slice as needed. Layer the ingredients into a deep, shallow salad bowl. Add your favorite dressing and enjoy!

It is ALWAYS when I’m hungry that I find the best recipes. This looks so amazing. Gotta get to the store. Shrimp and Avocado are two of my favorite things. Put them together? Perfection. 😀
I know right, Sarah?! the same things always seems to happen to me too. Yes, shrimp and avocado are the best!
I love salads as well, and could honestly eat one everyday. My favorite is just a Ceasar salad with either grilled chicken or grilled shrimp. My second favorite is a spinach and strawberry with a strawberry vinaigrette topped with almonds or walnuts. Love spring/summer salads. Also a big fan of Avocados in my salads as well. ♥
I love those too, Trish! Mmmmm….yum…strawberry vinaigrette!
I love everything about this salad, fresh is best. I have to substitute chicken for the shrimp due to allergies but otherwise I like to add fruit and nuts to give my salads a different flavor and crunch!
Thanks, Lisa! I’m right there with ya. Love how fruits and nuts can change the taste of a salad…for the better!
This looks awesome! Thanks for sharing!

This looks incredible! Shrimp and Avocado are two of my favorite foods and I love the combination. Seriously looks amazing.
What a beautiful, simple and colorful salad. I am shrimp lover and love new ways to use in my meals. I will certainly try this one.
Like you, I do not like to spend a lot of time cooking, so I also go for the salads. Adding avocado to a salad always makes that salad taste heavenly. I will try your Shrimp and Avocado Salad
This does seem very healthy for you, but too bad I’m not a fan of either avocado or shrimp. The hubs would love this salad, though!

I would have to agree that avocado is great in salads. Actually, it also my personal favorite. Thus, I am so excited to try this avocado shrimp salad recipe. I am planning to make one on Friday. Wish me luck and thank you for the inspiration.
Good luck, Sheila! Let me know how you like it.
