For the past few weeks, I’ve been trying to figure out my plan of attack for this move. I’ve figured out the best way to approach this is the way I do everything else. When I have a big task ahead of me, I make a list of all the pieces that are necessary to get me to the bigger goal.
I’m a list gal and this move won’t be any different! There are a few things I know for sure, one of them being that I’m not moving with junk. What I mean by junk is that I won’t be moving with anything I already know I need to either toss out or give away. I’m sure you’ve moved a time or 2 so you know that you don’t realize how much stuff you have until you are ready to move!
Right about now, I’m wondering why I didn’t toss stuff out-at least clothes when the seasons were changing all these years. Every year I switch my Winter clothes for my Spring clothes, but for the past couple pf years, I haven’t done the best with tossing out the stuff I don’t need.
My list continues to grow, but here is what I have thus far. My move date is Saturday, May 21st and since I like to do things ahead of time, I plan on being finished by Saturday, May 14th with the help of a friend. At this point, I need to:
- Trash, sell, or give away tings I don’t need. My rule of thumb is that if I haven’t used it within a year, I must not need it and it’s okay to throw away.
- Now that it’s Spring, I need to go through all of my clothes. I’ll start with Winter and then move to my Spring and Summer clothes.
- Go through file cabinets and sort through old papers.
It probably sounds funny that I am organizing BEFORE I move, but as I mentioned before, I don’t want to move with things I already know I know longer want or need!
With this move, my goal is to move light!
