So far out of all of our DIY home decor projects, my home office has taken the longest, but it’s also turned out to be the most rewarding. Guess what today is? Home office reveal day!
So…I know you’re going to do what I do when I’m reading a room reveal…scroll until you can see the pics! Caught you didn’t I? That’s okay because I’m sooo guilty!
If this is your first visit to my blog, for the past 4 weeks, I’ve been doing a home office makeover. You can catch up with each week below.
This room makeover has been a CRAZY 4 weeks and I can’t tell you how grateful I am for y’all. Do you know how many other projects caught my attention? Let me tell ya…the coffee table for the 1st-floor family room, Fall decor ideas, the terrariums I could make for the covered screened porch, recycling my jewelry box, and finishing up the guest bathroom. See why it’s taken me so long to get my home office finished?
I’m so grateful for your comments and words of encouragement. You really have no idea how much it’s helped me to stay focused. At first, I thought I was crazy for putting this out there, but now I’m so glad I did. I wish I’d done it sooner!
Okay, so without further ado…
Welcome to My Home Office!
(slide the arrow back and forth to the right and left to see the before and after!)
So what do you think? I am so in love with my office. I have to say it’s my favorite room in the house right now! As you can see, I deviated from my mood board a bit, but that’s okay. That’s the great thing about a mood board. It is okay to make some changes.
I originally planned on having a more farmhouse style desk – a wood desk actually, but I just love this red desk from Ikea so much, I couldn’t give it up. I even thought about painting it, but the entire reason I bought the desk was that it was red! I’d always wanted a red desk and so it stayed. I also kept the small red tables that I purchased to go with the desk.
Another color that was added was a light green. I’ve had these chairs for a couple of years now and they are so comfortable, I couldn’t give them up either! There’s nothing like curling up in these big oversized comfy chairs with a good book, blanket, and glass of wine.
I’m sure you remember my colorful accent wall. The orange and gold flowers are sitting in a white wood box and my Bible is laying on this amazing basket that I painted white.
The majority of the decor accents are white. With so much color in this room, something had to break it up and white really did the trick. It truly brightened up the room. Sounds funny to say because all of these colors are so bright, but the white brought in a clean, soft brightness, which was an excellent contrast to all the bright and vibrant colors.
If you’ve been following the makeover over the past 4 weeks, you may remember the burlap wood picture board I made. I love this board even more now that I’ve added the pictures. I think I’m going to make another one, later on, to add to the other side of the wall.
This is my favorite part of the room, with the accent wall being my second favorite.
This is a wall decal of one of my favorite Bible verses, Jeremiah 29:11. It says, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord. “Plans to prosper you and not to harm you. Plans to give you hope and a future.”
This is on the wall above the pink shelf.
I couldn’t pass up these gold and white file folders. A room this vibrant needs something more exciting than just a plain ‘ole manilla file folder, don’t you think? I just love what it says, “I’ve totally got this!” and yes, I do!
In case you’re wondering about that clear jar sitting on top, that my friend is my grateful jar. Every morning before I leave my house, I go into my office, grab one of the colorful slips of paper and write down what I am grateful for.
At the beginning of the next year, I sit and read the slips I placed in the jar from the previous year. I love starting my day office like this because it sets the tone for the day and reminds me that no matter how bad things are, there is always something to be grateful for.
I just love pipe shelves! I knew I wanted them in my office and I already had some wood in the shed just laying around so I grabbed some chalk paint, got some pipes and voila! Pipe shelves!
I didn’t have a calendar in my office. I know…how do you have an office with no calendar? So I got some colored chalkboard paint and painted one right on the wall!
All of my desk accessories are white too! Thank goodness for spray paint!
I’m a coaster gal so I made these faux shiplap coasters and grabbed my white chalk paint for them too!
Here are a few more pics!
Thanks again for joining me over these past 4 weeks of my home office makeover and reveal. I couldn’t have done this without y’alls kind words and encouragement!
