Farmhouse Mudroom: Monday Morning Color Watch #12

I’m often asked about colors palettes for the home and for websites and so I decided to create a series of colors that I hope will inspire you to find colors for your home or blog! As I’m sure you know, colors are very important when it comes to your home and DIY home decor projects; they can make or break a room!  Colors are equally important for your branding and website. Today I’m sharing colors and decor ideas for a farmhouse mudroom.

Unfortunately, our house didn’t come with a mudroom.  I’d love to have one.  We always come into the house through the garage, like many and somehow there is always dirt and leaves, and everything else you can track into the house when you live out in the country.  I thought about purchasing a mudroom kit or a hall tree and baskets to place in the garage but decided against it since we preferred to use that space for our at home gym.

Please note: Colors may appear different due to your monitor or mobile device color settings.

Using This Color Palette For a Mudroom

Like many of us who love farmhouse decor, I like shiplap and exposed brick.  I would paint the walls with the oyster color and make either a faux shiplap or faux brick accent wall.  The room decor would be would be wooden and I’d used baskets to keep items such as towels and gloves.

It’s a mudroom so of course, we need a mirror to see what you look like on the way out! I would use a combination of the blues and greens from the color palette for pillows and or bench/chair pads.  A rug could also be added in front of the bench to catch any dirt, but my preference is to not have a rug for easier cleanup.

I think the rug and pictures add a more comfy feel to the room.  I’ve seen

How would you incorporate these colors into your mudroom or any other color in your home?

I love the boldness of that blue and teal combined with the softness of the oyster and white. Great welcoming colors for this space!

    • Lynn 08/08/2017, 8:47 AM

Thank you, Jen! It does seem cozy to me.

  • Rachel Ritlop 08/07/2017, 1:16 PM

Really nice color scheme and furniture! I think it’s going to look great!

Love this! I have been dying to add some sort of shiplap wall to my house! They just look so pretty!

    • Lynn 08/08/2017, 8:47 AM

Yes, I love shiplap too, Megan!

  • Vicki @ Babies to Bookworms 08/07/2017, 2:51 PM

I would love to add a mudroom! They seem like such a great way to keep so much of the clutter and dirt out of the living space in your home!

    • Lynn 08/08/2017, 8:46 AM

Yes, they do Vicki. Because we always come in through the garage, the bar in the kitchen seems to be the dumping place and it drives me crazy!

  • Kelsee 08/07/2017, 3:33 PM

Love these colors! I want to white wash my fireplace SO bad and would be able to incorporate some of the other colors as accents with pillows and maybe a pop of the dark blue on my built in shelves.

    • Lynn 08/08/2017, 8:46 AM

I love that idea, Kelsee. If our fireplace wasn’t stone, I’d do the same thing!

  • Kristen Jones 08/07/2017, 4:04 PM

Love this color palette and the layout!! Simply stunning. Of course, every mudroom needs a mirror and a boxwood wreath!

We have a mud room that the old owners wallpapered. I have been dying to tear that crap down. I just haven’t decided on what I wanted to do in its place. I love these colors this just might be the idea and inspiration that we need for that area.

    • Lynn 08/08/2017, 8:45 AM

So glad you got some inspiration, Victoria! I hate tearing down wallpaper too! I wish someone would invent easy to remove wallpaper, but it’s making a come back too!

  • Tia Cox 08/07/2017, 6:37 PM

I really like this color palette a lot. Love the way you still kept the room neutral with pops of color!

    • Lynn 08/08/2017, 8:43 AM

Thanks, Tia! Some rooms I like very colorful like my home office. I try to keep the more common areas as neutral as possible.

  • Alexis 08/07/2017, 6:46 PM

Your mudroom is going to be so pretty! I so wish we had a mudroom or even a “real” laundry room. Have fun decorating!!

    • Lynn 08/08/2017, 8:43 AM

      Thanks, Alexis!

  • Danielle Gould 08/07/2017, 8:32 PM

  • Brittany Poulson 08/08/2017, 1:12 AM

We’re just starting to get things ready for building our house next spring. I hadn’t even thought of green for the mud room, but I actually really like the colors you chose! I’ll be saving this for future reference!

    • Lynn 08/08/2017, 8:35 AM

How exciting, Brittany! Good luck with everything!

  • Dianne Theron Blog 08/08/2017, 7:52 AM

I have been toying with the idea of creating a mudroom for our home and the colors in the post are great. I especially love the dark blue and light teal.

    • Lynn 08/08/2017, 8:35 AM

Thanks, Dianne! I love teals, blues, and greens!

  • Marie 08/08/2017, 8:29 AM

I really like the neutral colors here. Hopefully this fall we’ll finally tackle our mudroom. I agree about the rug — I put a runner under my sink cabinets and am now regretting it as it’s so dingy looking even after a bath.

  • Paula @ I'm Busy Being Awesome 08/08/2017, 11:39 AM

I love that combination of color. It is so perfect. I might even like it in my office 🙂 Thanks for sharing!

    • Lynn 08/09/2017, 1:27 PM

That would be really nice, Paula!

  • Leslie@Peaches&Willow 08/08/2017, 11:43 AM

I love this look for a mudroom. It’s very crisp and clean looking but functional, too! I love that little nightstand/table with the wicker baskets!

  • Andy Schwartz 08/08/2017, 2:29 PM

The teal is gorgeous! I’d love to use a similar color in the guest bathroom. It doesn’t have windows, and I think it would really brighten up the space. Love your mudroom ideas!

    • Lynn 08/09/2017, 1:27 PM

Thanks, Andy and I agree with you.

  • Sumer 08/08/2017, 4:52 PM

  • Becca @ Homemakers In Action 08/10/2017, 4:56 AM

I love the little picture you created to get a better idea of how it would look. What did you use to put that together? Did you just drag and drop images or did you use a particular program? I’d love to do something like this for my home projects binder.
