3 Things You Can Do To Refresh Your Home While You’re Self Distancing

Depending on where you live, you may be on shelter-in-place or you may be on self-quarantine.  It’s a stressful and uncertain time for all of us, but rather than dwelling on what we don’t have, can’t do or focus on what we have no control over, there are so many things we can do during this time, especially with our home.

Home decor - social distancing

Today I want to give you 3 things you can do to refresh your home while self-distancing.

The great thing about a refresh is that it doesn’t take a lot and a little can go a long way!

Refresh idea #1: Rearrange your room

Changing the layout of a room can make a huge difference!  If it’s your living room, change the way your sofa or love seat faces.  If it’s your bedroom, change the direction of your bed; have it face the window or move it to the opposite wall.

Refresh idea #2: Change up the details

One of the favorite things I love to do is to shop in my own home.  What do I mean by that?  Take a walk through your house and see what you can change up in different rooms.  For example, I have yellow toss pillows and a yellow and gray throw blanket.  In the Summer, I use those pillows and throw blanket in the living room.  In the Winter, I use those same toss pillows and throw blanket in my guest bedroom.  Our guest bedroom is painted yellow so the yellow in the details (toss pillows and throw blanket really pull the room together)!

Refresh idea #3: Light a candle

Lighting a candle may see, like such a small and simple thing to do, but I’m here to tell you, there is nothing like lighting a candle in a room.  Making your home feel warm and inviting is something that can easily be done with the lighting of a candle.

As you can see, it doesn’t take a lot to refresh a room and make you feel as if you’ve just walked into a new home!

How do you refresh a room when you’re looking to make small changes that have a big impact?
