Farmhouse decor is so homey and comfy in my opinion and when I was working on my home office makeover, one of the DIY projects I decided to make was faux shiplap coasters. They are such an easy DIY home decor projects – one you can make in 1 day; those are always my favorite!
DIY Faux Shiplap Coasters
I was able to make 9 coasters with the materials below that were 4″ x 5.”
- 3 – 1.5 ft x 4 ft wood boards (1/4″ thick)
- 1 – 3.5 x 4 ft wood boards (1/4″ thick)
- Wood glue
- Chalk pencil
- Tape measure
- Saw (I used my Dremel and the jigsaw attachment)
- White chalk paint
- Paint brush
Place the 3.5 x 4 ft wood board on a flat surface. Grab 1 – 1.5 ft x 4 ft wood board and glue it to the center of the 3.5 x 4 ft board. The larger wood board will act as the base of your coaster.
Glue 1 – 1.5 ft x 4 ft wood board on the left and the other 1.5 ft x 4 ft wood board to the right. You should have your 3 – 1.5 ft x 4 ft boards glued on top of the larger 3.5 x 4 ft wood board. Let dry overnight.
I decided I wanted my coasters to be 4″ x 5 and so with my chalk pencil, I made a mark at every 5″ so I knew where to cut. Once I’d made all of my hashmarks, I grabbed my Dremel and it was time to cut!
Once all of my coasters were cut, I painted them with chalk paint. Because my home office has farmhouse accessories, I wanted a weathered look.
So there you have it – faux shiplap coasters. I told you they were super easy to make!
